Michael Axelsson was born in Värmdö, in Sweden. He currently studies at The University College of Opera in Stockholm. Earlier studies include the Performance programme in singing at The Royal College of Music Stockholm, and Musicology at the Stockholm University.
He has a genuine interest in Opera and this Autumn he will sing Tamino and Guardian in The Magic Flute at Norrlandsoperan. Earlier Michael has sung Ecclitico in Il Mondo della Luna at Drottningholms slottsteater, Doctor Cajus (Falstaff) at Kammeroper Schloß Reihnsberg, Germany and Ferrando at the University College of Opera. As a boy soprano he had the opportunity to perform at the Royal Opera house in Stockholm as e.g. Miles in The Turn of the Screw, Erste Knabe in The Magic Flute and Erste Edelknabe in Lohengrin.
At the University College of Opera he as worked with a varied range of roles, among others Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore, Pylade in Iphigénie en Tauride, Lindoro in L’italiana in Algeri, Gerald in Lakmé and Albert in Albert Herring.
Michael often appears in oratory works, such as The Messiah by Händel, S:t Johns Passion by Bach, Requiem by Mozart and Saint Nicolas by Britten, and has worked with orchestras like The Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, The Stockholm Baroque Orchestra and The Stockholm Royal Court Orchestra. As a member of a male solo quartet he performs at The Royal Chapel and The Royal Palace at official occasions. He also likes to convey new music and 2006 he participated in the first performance of the oratory Ordet by Sven-David Sandström with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra at Berwaldhallen in Stockholm and with The Danish National Symphony Orchestra and Choir in Copenhagen.
Michael has studied with among others Mattias Danielsson, prof. Erik Saedén and Kerstin Wahlström-Olsson, and participated in Master Classes with teachers such as Olle Persson, Dan Marek and prof. Oren Brown. He has received scholarships from Anders Sandrew Foundation and the Royal Swedish Academy of Music, and participated as finalist in Gösta Winbergh Award. |

När man tar avsked av en kär vän eller släkting är sång ofta ett välkommet inslag. Jag har stor erfarenhet av att arbeta med organister och i olika kyrkor och anstränger mig för att det ska bli en så fin ceremoni som möjligt.
